The Annual LGC Awards
This years LGC awards took place on Monday 15th March 2004 at Le Meridien Grosvenor Hotel, London.
For 2004, allpay.net had sponsored the "Finance Team of the Year" award which eventually went to Sunderland City Council for their commitment and emthusiasm towards continuous improvement and innovation across the full range of financial activity. (The Sunderland CC team are pictured, below right, receiving their award from allpay.net's Business Development Director, Damian Scholes.)
Sunderland's record of achievement for the year 2002/3 - and the reasons why the judging panel decided that they should receive the allpay sponsored award - included:
- Achieving top scores in CPA
- Supporting and developing the Peoplefirst initiative
- Being short-listed for IRRV Revenues Team of the Year
- Success first time around applying for a Charter Mark for the cashiers service
- Development and successful operation through a first PFI of the Sandhill Centre
- Completion of the UK's largest metropolitan council street lighting PFI contract
- Being the only public sector body short-listed for the British Insurance Awards
The standard of entries in this category was particularly high and allpay.net would like to extend their thanks to all of those who entered.
Special mentions should go to the runners-up. Two organisations were highly commended : East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Walsall MBC, while another two were commended for their efforts: Bassetlaw DC and Southwark LBC.
