Woolworths Launches High Street Bill Payment Service

Woolworths has signed a deal with bill payment specialists allpay.net to launch bill payment services in its 820 high street stores.

It means that customers that receive bills from allpay.net clients, which include local councils and housing associations, can now make their payment at the till point in any Woolworths store, using cash or a debit card.

Customers will use an allpay.net swipe card (sent to them on behalf of the bill issuer) or if their bill has a barcode on it, the bill itself can be used to process the payment.

The deal opens up 820 convenient locations for allpay.net and gives the company an unrivalled presence on UK high streets. Woolworths will benefit from an increase in footfall to its stores.

Caroline Higley, Woolworths' project manager, says: "This is a fantastic deal that offers a host of benefits to both parties. Taking allpay into a well-known high street store delivers over 800 new convenient locations for allpay.net and, for Woolworths stores, accepting allpay.net cards and bills offers greater convenience and flexibility to its customers that use the allpay system."

Tony Killeen, allpay.net's managing director, says: "Teaming up with such a renowned retailer will ensure that our clients and their customers continue to benefit from the convenience of the High Street. By offering such great choice we can continue to fight financial exclusion."

The new service launches in Woolworths stores on Wednesday 2nd April and will be launched to the trade at the National Housing Federation Show in Warwick, which runs from the 26th to 27th of March.
